My First DesignEX / by Melany Wimpee

In New York, I always know a handful of people showcasing work at all of the design shows: ICFF, the Gift Show, Coterie and of course Fashion Week. These are among the harder events to miss living in Melbourne, however this week I got to take a look at the local design expo called DesignEX. These were my favourite things:

Corporate Culture had my favourite booth with tons of exquisite things, especially the designer trinkets from Hay. As a sucker for a good brass and black combo, I left seriously coveting the brass scissors!

Continuing the brass theme, Futagami have some very impressive brass work including bathroom hardware, cutlery, and theses very beautiful bottle openers. They are sold by Mr Kity in Brunswick.

For me the stand out design concept was the Inde Studio fold stool. Sleek and smart.

I love to see a simple idea used well so the zig zag light by Tec LED Lighting in a cool and warm light option was a great installation.

To finish off my visit, I enjoyed a delicious drink at the Great Dane booth which was set up as a lovely bar. I loved their Mid-Century Modern sofas.
